Ethiopia Banko Tatatu

Tatatu is a new washing station acquired by our partners in 2024.
We had the opportunity to visit it in December of that year, and after seeing the team, the environment and the processing approach, we realized that we wanted to work with coffee produced here.

This particular batch is processed using the classic natural method. However, the profile of the cup is different from the typical “natural Ethiopian” we are used to seeing. Instead of the usual bright fruitiness, it shows richer, fermented notes - with a subtle, alcohol-like character that is rarely associated with this style of processing.

We found it intriguing and worth a look - a great reminder that even within tradition, there's always room for surprises.
